Hi, my name is Unemployed.

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit ashamed to say that I've been out of work for ONE YEAR! If you're like most people in my life, you're thinking, "Why isn't this girl trying harder?" Believe me, I am. I've got about 300 applications out there, have worked my network to pieces, and have gone on several interviews. Unfortunately, it seems that for every job I apply or interview for, at least 100 other people do the same!

My field is in marketing and public relations. Unfortunately, businesses seldom advertise during a recession, so I might just have to resort back to my college days by waiting tables. Hopefully they're hiring.

While this economy sucks overall, I'd have to say the worst part is that "unemployment" becomes your identity, who you are. No longer am I just Tara...I'm Tara without a job. You can't even talk to people without having to brief them on your job hunt. While they mean well by asking, it tends to get old.

Anyways, I'm griping now. Thanks so much and good luck to all of you!
